Zone Chief Instructor

Meaghan Sutherland was appointed the Central Zone Chief Instructor in June 2023.

Meaghan grew up within the Macedon Ranges and attended both Macedon Pony as a rider and Riddells Creek Pony Club as a rider, coach, chief instructor, event coordinator, DC and President. As a A Certificate and Award of Merit holder Meaghan has continued to assist Central Zone and PCA in a number of roles, since aging out as a riding member of Pony Club. From Certificate assessor and mentor, to NCAS mentor and assessor, coach and DCI. Taking on the role of CZCI this year Meaghan hopes to assist all Central Zone riders and coaches in developing and growing their skills and knowledge around the Pony Club Syllabus. To ensure the safety and welfare of both horse and rider.

The ZCI oversees the work of coaches in the zone and the education of riders. She is assisted by a panel of Deputy Chief Instructors (DCIs) and Zone Assistants (ZAs). Together, they visit clubs, assist coaches to attain NCAS qualifications, assess riders for their C certificates and organise clinics for riders and coaches.

Further information about NCAS coach training is on the PCV website.

Applications for C and above certificates are received by the Zone Examining Secretary (ZES). The current Central Zone ZES is Jayde Kirkham. Jayde also organises the assessment of C candidates.

The coordinator for candidates of C*/K certificates is J’Aime Mallon. Meaghan Sutherland coordinates A & B certificate candidates.

These coordinators plan training clinics for the candidates and assist them in their progress.
